My son is the same age, and his gross motor is on point as well by walking, running, and climbing. As well as following one step directions. He babbles a ton. We used to hear momma and Dada and haven't heard it in a while. Gestures have been a concern for me as well. I've been modeling them a lot and working on it with him since I'm a sahm.
I taught my little one some baby signs and that has seemed to really help him communicate. He does say several words and I was told that imitating sounds like meow and woof for dogs and cats also count as words.
@Carolina this is mine! I can tell he is understanding what I say because he follows commands he is just not interested in communicating with us! He is more interested in playing and getting into trouble! It’s stressing me out
@Francess sounds similar to my guy it is stressing me out!
Mine does a lot of gestures but not a lot of words. She points, high fives, claps, does very dramatic hand raises and face slapping (in an oh no! sort of way). She also signs more, all done, eat, and water and shakes her head yes and no. But her only words (consistently) are Dada, doggy, eat, and uhoh. She's mimicked a lit of other ones but doesn't use them regularly. But she does respond to most commands and answers yes and no questions
Me too
Mine is the same! He says mama, dada, and byebye. Lots of babbling. He understands everything I ask for and say to do. I’ve also been worried…
