When and how did you stop formula?

My little girl turned 1 a few days ago and she still loves her bottles, she’ll cry until I give her one. She’s having them through the day and one or two at night because she’s an absolutely awful sleeper (whole other issue). Any advice on stopping? The health visitor said I could go cold Turkey but I’m not sure..

Can you not swap it for normal milk or water?

Mine had formula until 15 months, as he wasn’t a great eater while his canine and molars came through. Then I just swapped to cows milk !

I started gradually changing it from about 11m with my girl. Started with a little splash of cows milk and mostly formula, up to just cows milk at one. Just stopped bottles cold turkey, offered her milk in a sippy cup, took her a couple of days but it was fine. No dramas.

I swapped mine to cows milk when they turned one, they didn’t notice! I am still giving them it in bottles for the moment (nearly 13 months) they get great comfort from their bottles and I don’t think the are ready to have it in a cup. I’ll save that battle for another time 🤣

Start by giving her 1 cows milk bottle and the rest formula for a few days and then change to cows milk. Thats what i did before my baby turned one and shes been fine since

Thank you everyone. I’ll swap one of her bottles to cows milk and see how she goes. Ideally i want to stop the bottles to avoid damaging her teeth, she has water in one of those 360 sippy cups (no teat) but it doesn’t seem to satisfy her she still whinges until she gets the formula 😭

I’ve heard it works if you just switch it for water x
