Placenta previa low lying

Had anybody else been told they have low lying placenta previa? I have just been for a 29 week growth scan and told my placenta hasn’t moved and likely will not now. I’ve been reading up that they will book in a C Section by 36 weeks, has anybody else been through this situation or currently going through this too that can shed some light/advice? I don’t have anyone else to talk to that’s been through this and Google is just terrifying me!! 🫣

I had this in my previous pregnancy and it hadn’t moved so they booked me in for a C-section at 37 weeks and I went into labour the same day I was booked in for a C-section. They checked me over and my placenta had moved enough so I gave birth naturally!

I can’t shed any light or advice but I was told in my last scan that it was low and I have another scan in 3 weeks to check if it’s moved, so commenting to see what others say or for moral support if it’s the same for me too.

I was told I had lay lowing at my 20 week scan, just turned 29 weeks and been in hospital due to a bleed which they say is because my placenta is still low and baby is now putting more weight on it 🙃 I have a scan in 3 weeks to determine if is still too low and will need a c-section! Not much advice I’m afraid, but you’re not alone 🥰

Really glad we can all support eachother with this - let’s keep this thread updated for eachother as moral support/advice as each of us find out further information or just about how we’re feeling with it all in general ❤️ @Sophie im sorry to hear you’re bleeding that must’ve been really worrying for you 😟 have they told you just to keep an eye on it until your next scan? xx

Yes just to keep an eye and if anything gets worse to go back - I’m also rhesus negative so that’s double fun 🙃 they’ve said it’s fairly common with low laying placentas which don’t move and to pack my hospital bag now cos I might be having a few visits until they might make a decision she’s better out than in! But for now, they’re happy to keep her in and monitor the bleeding x

My wife has got this currently and is 27wks. We've been booked in for placenta scan at 32 wks to confirm if it's moved or will be booked into a c section x

@Sophie Oh wow you’re really going through it bless you 😟 have you been offered the injections to speed up lil girls lungs etc? Hope all has been ok for you the past few days x

@Louise So glad you commented so we can all support eachother, it’s such an uncertain time not being able to plan the birth or know what’s going to end up happening. The sonographer told me if you have an anterior placenta it’s more likely to move so if you have that, that’s hopeful info for you 🥰 I was told with my posterior placenta if it was going to move, it would have done by now and it’ll be a miracle if it somehow moves 2cm over the next few weeks so to expect a C section. Have they mentioned an internal scan to measure your cervix length etc? They’ve arranged it for my 32 week growth scan xx

I’m booked in for another scan at 32 weeks but they didn’t say anything about an internal scan too. I was presuming it would be the same as usual but maybe I need to prepare myself for something extra!

I had my scan today. It was just the usual scan, not internal. They said the placenta has moved and is no longer a worry! Fingers crossed the same happens for you. Not sure if I didn’t have the internal because the placenta has already moved and if you’ll only have it if it still low lying so they can see more.

@Louise That’s amazing news!! 👏🏻 I bet you feel so relieved! I’m currently admitted into hospital in pre term labour, I’m currently having steroid injections and Tocolytics medication with a positive fetal finronectin result, little nervous but fingers crossed all works out ok. x

I’ve got my fingers crossed for you.
