I have contraceptive implant and bleed for about 3/4 days every 6/7 weeks no pains. On a waiting list for gynaecology to be sterilised.
I’ve tried the pill, implant and coil. The pill I’m just super forgetful so wasn’t ideal. Implant I got a constant period which would switch between heavy and light throughout the month and having it removed the nurse didn’t numb my arm properly and ignored my cries in pain and me saying stop until my friend came into the room and yell at her. The coil was my best friend I had nice regular periods sometimes so light I could just have a panty liner on and that would do. I think I’m going to go back to it but I have also really enjoy not adding hormones and chemical etc to my body after 16 years and really feeling like myself so I have asked my partner about if we can just stick to old school condoms
@Liza thank you, that’s really helpful! I was thinking about the coil but I’m worried about it hurting. Did it cause you much pain being inserted or removed?
@Elizabeth I had no pain either way coming out I was so surprised at how quickly she did it. I recently spoke to a nurse about going back on and she said that after child birth it’s actually a lot easier to insert
@Liza that’s so helpful, thank you! I am seeing the dr about this on Thursday so will discuss.
I’ve just had my copper coil taken out, had it for three months and I was getting two periods a week. Having it put in hurt slightly more but as long as you breath through it like pregnancy it’s fine, coming out didn’t hurt what so ever xx
@Becky oh no!! Ive been put on a waiting list for the copper coil, fingers crossed it works for me! Sorry it didn’t work out for you, what a pain. Thank you for the info x
I’m on the implant, was on it before baby as well it’s been the best for me. No bleeding and don’t notice any hormonal changes xx
