Amoxicillin for UTI

Has anyone been prescribed amoxicillin for a UTI? Haven’t had lab results back yet but have been prescribed these but am a bit nervous to take. I’m 18 weeks pregnant. Thanks

I was prescribed these last week when I was 14 weeks pregnant and had to take them for 7 days

I’ve just had them for the same, all is fine (24 weeks) 😊

No issues taking them while pregnant with regards to the pregnancy. Only thing I will say is they triggered me to have thrush which turned into recurring thrush for the rest of my pregnancy and about a year after🙃

Oh yes Laura is right I also have recurring thrush! However it’s much safer for baby to have them than to not have them when you have a UTI!

It’s safe to have but antibiotics throws off your balance down there so expect some discomfort. Antibiotics kill a range of bacteria. They also kill healthy bacteria in the vagina. This can lead to too much yeast 😩

I had amoxicillin for bronchitis at 32 weeks

I had a very persistent UTI during 2nd trimester, it took three courses of different antibiotics to treat. Amoxicillin was the one that eventually worked, but it did trigger a bout of thrush. Luckily the thrush wasn't too stubborn, one pessary application and some cream sorted it out. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Thank you everyone x
