@Lisa yes, I am
Just out of curiosity how much maternity leave are you going to take? Ironically our childminder became pregnant and decided after the birth it wasn’t financially worth continuing leaving us in the lurch.
@Karen i will take two weeks off ( still be running my business as I work from home ) and I have two assistant working for me and they are qualified early years educators, my mum is training also to be a qualified childminder . I know how hard is it to find childcare and I will never leave parent hanging on.
Is this your first baby? I think 2 weeks is utter madness (in the kindest way!) and what if you had a c section or other complications? I think setting up your own business is amazing but please don’t start anything until after your own baby is here x
@Fay yes, this is my first child. The rest of day, I won’t be doing anything just be supervising my assistants and mum. So I’m definitely still enjoying motherhood and resting well. I know it sounds crazy but I won’t do anything that will harm my health, the health of the children I work with and my child’s health. My mum will fully take over my responsibilities of running the nursery when my baby is here till I’m ready to get back into working.
Your first child and you're trying to take care of OTHER children and yet you have no idea how postpartum is going to affect you.. no thanks sorry girl I don't mean to offend you but you have zero idea how hard birth really is on your body you need to rest up and the last thing you need to be doing is taking 2 weeks off and running a day care. Youre going to be EXHAUSTED in all aspects even if you have two other workers??? How are you going to function? Best of luck to you
@Milli I have being working with children for five years and me not having a child doesn’t have make me less incapable of taking care of other children. This is my 5th pregnancy, I had 2 miscarriages, 1 still birth and 1 termination. I actually find the statement” your first child & you’re trying to take care of other children” , very sensitive. Yes, I don’t how postpartum will affect me that why I prepared my mum to be in charge, continue doing my duties and run the nursery. I will be in my home and be resting. I live in a four bedroom house. I run the nursery on the ground floor, I have the middle floor and last floor to myself and my child. Unfortunately, there are lot of women that have go back to work so early due to no financial help or support. I am one of them.
Are you a registered childminder?
