I have requested an elective c section. After stressing about it for months (literally before conception even!) I mentioned it to my midwife at 16 weeks. She referred me to the consultant midwife for a birth choices meeting which I had around 23 weeks or so - went through risks and signed everything off. I'm 33 weeks now and my community midwife mentioned at my last appointment I would have to have another consultant app to confirm it all and I guess get the date? Though I'm not sure as I didn't realise I'd have to have a second consultant app! No one has ever batted an eyelid or pushed back in any way shape or form. The consultant midwife said they usually schedule them for 39+3 weeks.
I got told today at Lincoln if on diet controlled they would want baby born by 39 weeks, if on metaformin by 38 weeks and if on insulin 37 weeks. I had diabetes both pregnancies currently 28 weeks and may need to start metaformin if I can't get my levels down more. My first was vaginally nonussues and I plan again so no advice in that but I was seen by an anesthesia Dr too incase I needed a section and they have booked me in for that again at 32 weeks. I have known people have planned csections though previously x
I had an elective as my daughter was breech. Think this was decided at either 32 or 36 weeks with the consultant. I was then given a date when I was 39+4 days. How many weeks are you? Have you told your midwife you want one? It’s completely your decision now so they should be willing to offer you one.
