From the information that I got when I spoke to my nursery about when you apply for let’s just say 15hr funding once you finish applying for it, it tells you what else you are eligible to apply for, this is how I will be getting tax free childcare. For applying I’m not sure as i haven’t applied yet but you basically have to confirm all paper work every 3 months so i wouldn’t do it until 2 months prior to starting. Don't apply for the code until June. You have to reconfirm every 3 months so would have to do it again before your LO starts anyway. Do it mid way through so you have time to forward the code and the account reference to the nursery so they know where the money is coming from and that's it. Then you pay the nursery through that account, it runs like an online bank account on the gov website and you set up payments like you do with your bank account. But yeah you still need to reconfirm every 3 months for both code and tax free childcare.
