Regressions

Help…. I’m on week 3 of the 18-24 month regression and it’s killing me. Previously my son who is 20 months almost 21 months would wake at 630, nap at 12, wake at 2/230 then sleep At 7/715pm - this was all done independently- a kiss goodnight put in the bed and bye bye. He has always put himself to sleep since 6 months! Now bammmmmmm I’m hit hard. Currently he wakes at 6am, naps at 1215-2pm then night time is horrible. We start his wind down now at 7 and he’s in bed by 730. I need to sit by his bed and can’t move till he’s sleeping or he will scream so loud and cry till I come back. I then sneak out of his room when he’s sleeping. Between 30-45 minutes till he’s sleeping. I have tried later bedtime, earlier- it’s the same. Iv tried shorter nap times, it’s the same. He wakes around midnight, then again at 3. The last week of had to sleep in his room at 3 because I’m so tired. Any suggestions? How long does it last? Any tips on separation anxiety… nightmares.

No suggestions sorry, there's not really anything you can do when they go through these stages except patience and unconditional love, he just needs to feel safe and supported. It will pass. And you will feel so good about yourself for having been there for him the whole time ❤️. Maybe some noise cancelling earphones? 😅 But I thought maybe a little perspective would help. What you're describing him doing during his regression is what most kids his age do, NOT during a regression. It seems quite normal to me. I'd even say, pretty good ! So maybe when you're feeling defeated and/overwhelmed, remind yourself you have a one in a million, you're very lucky, and that it will pass. Good luck mama xx
