Blood thinning tablets

Hey guys. So I will be having a c section in about 5 weeks (UK) and I've been reading about blood thinning injections after it, I really don't want them as it's like a fear from wen I broke my ankle n had to have them for weeks. Has anyone had tablets instead of the injections?

I had to have the injections for 10 days after. I did ask my consultant if there is a tablet I could take instead and they said tablets for this type of surgery don’t exist and it has to be injections. Not sure if they are the same from when you had them for your ankle but I will say though they really aren’t bad. I’m petrified of needles but I just numbed the area with an ice pack and just went for it. The needle is tiny, it’s just the actual medicine when you inject stings a little but accidentally biting your lip or tongue is worse in my opinion x

I found them painful (just had my third section) and then realised that in hospital they gave them to me lying down. Not sure if that makes a difference, but bar the standard needle scratch, they haven't been painful at all. I just wish I'd worked this out for my previous sections, when I had them standing or sitting!

I had them for 10 days and I don’t really like needles but I didn’t think they were that bad

Just get someone to do it for you I found that helped than trying to do it myself

There is no oral form of heparin. Unfortunately injections are the only option post surgery.

I had injections for 10days after if you get someone to do them for you as close to the scar the midwife told me this then you feel nothing as its all numb around there helped me massively.

I had to take mine for 6 weeks due to bloody loss and jeeez they started to hurt towards the end! Started numbing my leg with an ice lolly first which helped a lot. Tried to do it in my arms and that was too painful

I'm on them now, have been since 30 weeks pregnant, and got to have them until baby is 6 weeks old. Hate them. Asked if was a tablet form and told no. I'm not due till 14th March. Have to get partner to do them for me xx

I didn’t like the injection but I found if someone did it for me it helped

I found the injections more painful then c section recovery 🙈 I didn’t even last full 6 weeks taking them

I am on my last day of injections tomorrow and have had to have them for 6 weeks. My partner has been doing my injections for me, and my thighs are battered, swollen, and bruised, but overall, i guess it's better than blod clots. I was not offered tablets and guess the liquid is the most effective way. Sorry, I'm not much help on the question, but I hope all goes well.

I’m petrified of needles but I found it okay, I went on my lower belly where I was still numb from my c section made it easier, I also got my partner to do it so I couldn’t hesitate x

I had injections for 6 weeks. Managed 4 weeks as after that I was terrified of the needles. Got anything section coming up in May, and I’ll have another 6 weeks. I’m gonna aim for 4 weeks again, and failing that discuss taking any tablets that will help contribute. But the injections are way more important than a tablet or they wouldn’t waste the money on them x
