I would advise downloading the nhs birth plan template and going through that to prompt you on things to think about. Main points being; pain relief, injection for birthing placenta and vitamin k for baby xx

@Leah do you have the link?

@Sarah https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/labour-and-birth/preparing-for-the-birth/how-to-make-a-birth-plan/ if you scroll about half way down it says about downloading a template xx

There’s this tiktok that came up with the most straightforward and simple way to create your birth plan but I would recommend researching and thinking about things such as using a TENS machine for pain relief etc. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGdDhqaLh/

Not sure where you are based but all my notes are on badger notes and you can do it in there and it tells you the things you can pick between and if your not sure what it is or want more info you click that and when you speak to your midwife when going through it she can see what you want more info on xx

Thank you all❤️

I have my appointment coming up this week and also felt a bit like that. Feel way more informed after going to an nhs antenatal class and doing some of my own research from official resources… not from asking people, that’s a big no go I’ve found, don’t need their labour horror stories!!!

@Claire ok?

Don’t make a plan, make birth preferences! During my first pregnancy I was so nervous about my ‘plan’ not going 100% but now I know I can’t make a plan because I’m not certain that plan will work and go ahead. As long as baby and myself are healthy i’m happy!

What @Lucy said! With our first I just had preferences but went in with and open mind and just went with the flow. The only thing that I didn't manage was a water birth due to being induced x

I found it quite easy, the midwife goes through all the questions and you answer with what you want, she writes them down in your notes. Take your time, ask questions about the options, you’re in no rush (although 2nd time round mine took 20 minutes to run through!). Then you can if you like type or write it up fleshed out with personal preferences for example ‘I want my partner to cut the cord’ or ‘I want my partner to tell me the sex’ (if it’s a surprise), ‘I want a dark room with music playing’ etc. and take with you when you go in. And like everyone says, preferences not plan 🩷
