Government Tax Free Childcare

It’s my first month needing to use this service. I’m all set up and last night sent £50 to the account. I checked it today on the government website and is still showing as £0. Does it take some time? If anyone could talk me through how to add money, then do I send it somehow to the nursery or do they just take it? I have linked my account to the nursery we use so was just unsure of getting the money in and paying it out. Thanks 🙏

I found only a direct debit payment would work. I think it can take 2 days for the funds to clear though. I have been waiting for my nursery bill (which I got this week) , putting the money in the account and then setting a one time payment to nursery for the date the bill is due. I know some people have it automated to go to nursery monthly but our bill differs a lot eg February is a shorter month

When you click on manage account and scroll the the bottom and see your provider you’ll be able to see setting up the payments to them

Mine usually appears within up 2-3 hours but I do think they say it can take 24 hours so check again later and see. And then another couple of hours and its been topped up. Definitely check the bank account details and the reference number are correct.

Ours took ca 10 hours to appear on the account, and once it did, So did the government top-up. Once that was done, we made a one-off payment to the nursery from the account using the cleared funds (Ps- you need to set up your nursery account as your childcare provider) to make payment to them
