How to work out nursery fees pls help!

My 3yr old is now entitled to 15hrs free per week. She goes 4 days a weeks from 9am until 3pm (6hrs). So a total of 24 hrs per week. So 24hrs - 15hrs =9 hrs, right? So I should only pay for 9hrs per week right? So if it’s £40 a day then how would they calculate the 9hrs? If you’re equating 6hrs to £40 then it’s about £6.67 per hour which means I should pay about £60.03 per week? I just want to make sure I’m understanding how it works before I query the amount they are charging me which is £396 for 6 weeks when I think it should be £360.18. Thanks in advance!

Ask the nursery for a break down, the funded hours do not cover any consumables and meals. I think they also charge more for the non funded hours because the government doesn’t give them enough so they have to make up the shortfall

The 15 hours is funded not free so your nursery may still charge a consumables fee. The hours are also only applicable in term time so many nurseries spread them out evenly over the year so it works out less than 15 funded hours per week if they do this.

My lil one goes to nursery all year round not just term time. So it works out 11 hours a week he get funded. He goes to nursery 4 days a week though. The funded day o still pay for food and consumables. And the non funded day I pay £68/ day. Each nursery will have its own rates

Thanks ladies, I assumed the govt “paid” them the cost of 15hrs they would have charged me (which yah think would make sense?) Will ask them for a breakdown for sure, just didn’t want to look like a fool when I asked lol

Also the 15 funded hours a week is term time so it works out to 11.25 hours per week if they spread out across the year.
