Babbling v. 'talking'

How do you define babbling v. the first time they actually say mama and dada? My baby says mama and dada rather than mamamamamam which is how she first started. But at night she goes 'mama...... mama... .mama' so does that make it babbling? 😅 so confused!

We've decided that we will only count it as a word, when she knows what it means. Like saying Dada when dada is in the room etc otherwise I see it as just babbling but that's just my view

At this stage, anything is babbling. They babble way passed 1 year old. It's talking when they're saying something with purpose, like "no" to no more food.

That makes sense! I think she babbles mama but says dada when he comes in the room - classic 😂
