Potty training

I have a 3 year old girl who still struggles to tell me potty urges and she’s still wet at night . She technically is fully potty training but the cues aren’t always there Exspecially when I am in the middle of something . Any advice ?

Following as mine let's me know after he uses it in his diaper 🙃

@Elizabeth right ?! I mean she’s completely out of pull ups but I feel like she needs them at night still but I can’t afford to buy pull ups every 2-4 weeks

It's insane how much they cost now a days 😳

3yr old is very young to expect her to be dry overnight. Overnight dryness is a hormonal thing, and it’s common to still be wet until 7yrs. My eldest wasn’t dry until about 4yrs (consistently), and now he wakes in the night if he needs a wee.

@Emily I’m not expecting her to be dry over night .

@Elizabeth yes ! Luckily she issues rascals and friends . They hold a lot

I wouldn't expect a child to be dry all night every night until at least 5yrs old.. - You could just use regular diapers at night, they're much cheaper - Look into reusable options - Wake her up in the middle of the night to go - Look into store brand pull Ups, it's like $20 for 70 pull Ups (Walmart brand 5/6t in my area).. Easily get you through for over 2 months.

1 thing that helped my 4 year old with overnight dryness was getting her up for a "dream pee" before I went to bed to empty the tank, so to speak, one last time for the night. For daytime, just have to still remind her to take potty breaks during the day. Every couple hours "hey, check in with your body. Go take a potty break."

@jenna you say about her still being wet overnight, and can’t afford to buy pull ups every 2-3 weeks. She’s only 3, so she’ll need frequent reminding to go toilet.

@Charlotte I’ve done rewards (candy and stickers ) but she expects it 24/7 . I’m afraid to wake her up to pee in the middle of the night because she won’t go back to sleep .

Same issue. When we’re at home my daughter is constantly having accidents she’s 4 in May. She is super ADHD and will hold it bc she just can’t focus on anything. But in public or at peoples houses she never has accidents and always holds it until we get to the bathroom. Drives me nuts. I can literally see her needing to pee and tell her to go and she goes to grab a toy or wait I need this that NO you need to go pee!!! She always makes it but pees a little in her panties it’s so irritating. But I wouldn’t stress the night time thing. I’ve heard that is a hormonal thing and they will grow out of peeing in the night. Some do it early some don’t.

Also we use the Kroger pull ups. They’re like 7.99 for a 20+ pack depending on what size. One each night lasts us a few weeks bc they’re only for bedtime.

@jenna For a dream pee, you don't wake her up, just get her out of bed, pull her pants down and sit her on the potty then take her back to bed

Mines 5 he’s been trained since 2yrs and I still remind/ask him hourly. I don’t rely on him to tell me, yes sometimes I can see him busting so I tell him to go, but if I can feel it’s been over an hour or we’re out he’s playing and distracted then I remind him. Because chances are, I need to pee every hour anyway so when I go I ask him does he need to go as well. Keep reminding them, keep asking. Sometimes they need 2secs to actually stop playing and think “do I need to pee” and that’s our job Xx

for night time have you considered reusable diapers? it’ll save on costs & they’re honestly not that bad at all, i did reusables pretty consistently from birth & it wasn’t much more of a hassle than disposable diapers were
