Midwife told me they wouldn't listen till 16 weeks. I don't think I could find my own (last baby) till 20 weeks x

I have one too, I used in my first pregnancy in 2017 but it was after 16w for sure before I ever heard it. Then I scared myself like you and couldn't find it again the next time I tried.. so I put it away, had a pregnancy in 2022 I was to worried to try it then.. and I'm expected again now (Aug) and im un sure if I would ever try again.. its scary when u can't find it but there many reasons for this. We're also using a cheaper peice of equipment .. without being medically trained also 🤭

The baby is still so tiny surrounded by fluid so the chances of actually getting the baby’s heartbeat at this gestation is quite slim. There’s also the main artery and vessels that can give off sounds of a heart beat so even if you did pick something up it might not even be the baby heartbeat x

I’ve always been told they’re a really bad thing to use alone unless you’re a medical pro as the sound waves haven’t been tested to be safe for more periods of time than necessary at the appointments, and also false positives are common as you can pick up your own pulse easily by accident, and false negatives are common as you’re not trained to find baby properly so cause a lot more challenges than they’re worth xxx
