If you ask the nursery to send an example invoice I'm sure they will. I did this as I'm rubbish at working things out 😂 we pay something like £11 per funded day for consumables and spread our hours out throughout the whole year so still get a monthly bill
My brother sends his little daughter one full day a week, and her 15 funded hours are spread over the year. He pays juat under £50 a month. If he didn't spread her hours, his monthly pay would be cheaper most of the time. But those none funded weeks (usually half term) would charge his full cost. It's never going to be free as the government do pay the nurseries enough, so they charge for extra things to make up the loss.
Look for preschools not nurseries as they are the ones that charge loads of top up fees. At a preschool the most they charge is for lunch but most do include it. They can either for three days 9-3ish or a morning or afternoon everyday
My daughter goes to nursery 2 mornings a week (8-1pm) which is 10 hours a week fully covered by the free funding. No hidden costs. I make her a packed lunch so I don’t have to pay for her lunch there. The nursery provide a morning snack too free of charge. I would have a face to face conversation with the nursery(s) to better understand it! My daughter goes all year round which means she is entitled to 11 hours per week with the funding however if she was term time only, then she would be eligible for 15. It’s very confusing! X
So yes you can but most nurseries now charge for consumables ( food, crafts, activities etc) and also the funding only covers for term time so you'll be paying full fees during school holidays ( usually they still have to go during holidays to keep their place) I pay 22 a day for my kids for consumables and to spread the cost to cover school holidays instead of paying thr full amount if that makes sense .
