Had my baby at Queens in December, Labour was great, midwives we’re so lovely and helpful. Birth didnt go to plan (when does it ever LOL) and was quite traumatic but they did what they could/needed to get my boy out safely which i will never complain about. I had to stay in for 4 days after and they were so nice, couldn’t do enough for me. I went to a ward the night of the day after i gave birth and they were lovely there too. I had some complications so had to go back for another 3 days after being home for 2 days but even then they were so nice and soooo supportive, couldn’t recommend more x
I’ve heard city is the best ! Heard so many bad things about queens I’d never go there for birth. I’m at city to x
I honestly think they aren't that different and it depends on the staff on the day. But have only given birth at city and will go back there again.
I had my baby last march at queens and honestly was the best experience i could have had, I ended up with a section and they looked after me so well. Think it’s all down to what you feel will be best as there’s always pros and cons to each hospital
No complaints, may 2024 baby. Staff lovely 😊 (city!)
I had my baby end of October at city and had an amazing experience for both labour and after care. Every single staff member from midwives to doctors and health care assistants were brilliant and helped me so much. I didn’t think it was dirty, the ward was a bit noisy on one day (had to stay in for three days) but you can’t really control that imagine it’d be like that on a ward anywhere.
I had my baby at city in Nov 23 and they were amazing! I was induced early so stayed on the antenatal ward for a few days, and was really looked after. Was taken down to labour suite when my waters broke and I had the best midwife. My boy was admitted to the neonatal unit after birth so I was allowed to stay in the maternity unit for a few days and I had the best care. I would definitely give birth there again.
I had my baby at queens in November and the care was very good. My midwife was brilliant. Queens and city are run by the same trust and the midwives often move between sites so they’re essentially the same so be guided by location when deciding which to go to x
I had my little girl at City in August. The positives outweighed the negatives for Positives - own room during induction and labour - supportive kudufe in labour - husband was able to stay throughout - on the ward I had the most amazing student midwife Negatives - during labour I got told to only use the gas and air during contractions. The person didn't realise they were going back to back. I mentally told her to f- off. - After a midwife made me give a bottle of formula, when I didn't want to. - the needle fell out of my hand, and it took them forever to sort it out Overall good experience. I had ok food. Most of the mudwifes were lovely. The student I think was Angelika. Se might be fully qualified by now as she was a 3rd year. I think the nice midwife was named Princess?
As Emma said the staff is pretty much the same, one of the midwife’s I had at the city classes was at queens when I gave birth and told me they switch between. I had scans at city and they never picked up on any problem with my baby where as Queens picked up that my daughter had a problem with her hips which when she was born she did in fact have hip dysplasia so I stayed with queens.
There will always be bad things that people say about every hospital. I personally had both my babies (one in 2016 and one in 2024) at city hospital and had lovely experiences. Birthing suite was lovely, I had a water birth with my first which was beautiful, the second I lost a lot of blood but the doctors all came in so fast and sorted me out so quickly so we bypassed any surgery needed. The midwife’s were lovely and the aftercare was fine, supportive of my breastfeeding journey also. Good luck with the birth of yours x
Tbh i had a worse experience at Queens they ignored my every concern with my baby and he passed away at 17 weeks so I stick to city
@Jessica so sorry for your loss 😢😇 I'd never have a baby at Queens, yes every hospital might have pros and cons but there's just too many negatives there, too many neglected families. My heart goes out to you xx
@Paris I completely agree with you way to many cons

They are the same hospital but just on two different sites. The think it probably does depend on the staff on the day. X
I had my little girl at City (sorry was 19months ago!) however I was in the same situation between queens and city. I chose city even though it was the furthest away from me based on it me getting better feedback from others. My experience was great. Staff was amazing I had a planned c section and they was all so nice. Stayed for one night - yes was noisy but that’s to be expected on a shared ward with other new mothers and babies. Staff check on a regular basis. Only bad point was waiting to be discharged for a while to be asked to watch a video.
I had my baby at City in August. My experience was quite good. I got a pool room straight away (granted it was midnight) and was able to go in there as soon as I arrived. The midwife was lovely then I had another due to shift changes. I got an epidural and I was certain it wasn't working and it took them ages to notice it wasn't on properly so I couldn't top it up. They did eventually realise I wasn't just being moany & it was indeed not set up right. They were very apologetic though. My birth went a bit wrong, I started bleeding and my daughter was stuck. They looked after me really well, explained clearly to me what was happening and then had to go to surgery (not c section). Came to check on me afterwards a couple of times. The ward was a bit noisy but I think it's the same everywhere. I still managed to sleep. Food was shit but that's hospitals for you.
I had my son at city April 23 no complaints (emergency c-section) I would never ever birth my child at Queens x
