For people who were/are SAHM

If you were a SAHM for a number of years (more than 2), did you find it easy or hard to get back into the workplace again?

So I know you've said more than 2, I was out of work for nearly 3 years. I now currently have a job which thankfully works around my daughter and family but I did find it difficult to get a job in the first place. The first job I managed to get didn't work out because my daughter was constantly poorly due to nursery which meant I wasn't at work and ended up having to leave. Overall though, actually getting back into work has been relatively easy apart from relearning how to juggle everything like childcare, housework, family time with having less time due to work.

Came back into the workforce with less pay than I started with when I graduated University. Thinking of the income loss over the years makes me feel crazy. Going back to school soon tho

Going from SAHM to working full time SUCKED. Going from SAHM to working 2-3 days a week was great. First week was tiring but I ultimately loved having my own job and income.

@Dory was it easy to get a job after having so long off work? Thanks!!

I’ve been out of work since I was 20 (I’m 29 now) my daughter is disabled, I’ve had loads of people in the same boat as me and their struggled

I had almost 2yrs off and had to just take any job going for the hours I wanted. I needed weekend work so my husband could work weekdays. A few years on and Iv gone back into customer service but at the bottom again which I don’t mind so much as the team listen to my opinions.
