He's saying words. That's enough at this point! Have another think at 18 mo you can speak to HV but likely they will also say fine
Some kids are just shy I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. Your son will be taking everything in. I really wouldn’t worry. My girl isn’t saying anything other than mama and dada either and is also the same in some situations to start with. My older son has only just got more confident in new situations and that was when he turned 4. Also the same people that are saying he’s quiet now will probably be moaning in a few years when he won’t shut up 😂 xx
My 15 month old is a loud chatterbox, but in big groups he's almost silent or he whispers. It could be a confidence thing, especially if he's fine with you and his dad. I wouldn't worry just yet, but I'm sure your health visitor wouldn't mind you asking either x
My eldest was a very quiet baby/toddler and didn’tspeak until he was 2 and a half and now he doesn’t shut up hahaha 🤣 he’s also super loud too now 🙄🤣
@Laura aww thank you! Is there anything you did to try and help his speech? Was his babbling delayed as well?
@Scarlett how did you get the referral through your HV? Thank you
His babbling was hardly any until he started saying individual words from approx 18 months old (except dad and mom). He failed his 2 yr old review for speech and language but our HV service don’t even consider a referral until over 2.5yr old. They kept in touch with me and he was talking by 2.5. I just sang nursery rhymes to him, talked a lot 🤣 and also lots of reading. I also think current lo is heading the same way with delayed speech but by gosh he’s loud compared to my eldest 🙈
Yeah I ask my health visitor and she said she going to to referral us and she did the same with my eldest and I found out December my eldest has got autism xx
My 15 month old really quiet he make sound but don’t say momma or dadda yet and he been referred to speech and language
