Vitamins

I was recently told at a baby group that I should take multivitamins as I’m breastfeeding and apparently look very pale 🙈 I went to buy some but they contain vitamin A which isn’t advised for breastfeeding mums. Just curious what vitamins or supplements people are taking and why. 🙃

Vitamin D for me and a separate one for baby Breast milk doesn’t contain vitamin D but formula does, so we need to supplement Should have taken vitamin D through pregnancy as well, it’s one most people should take x

extra Vitamin A intake is not for pregnant mums, but it’s no problem with breastfeeding mums.

Vitamin D is advised in uk due to lack of sun 🤣 but if you have a healthy balanced diet you don’t NEED any other vitamins but any multivitamin is ok to take breastfeeding

Prenatal vitamins is perfect to take. Never heard you can’t take vitamin A

Prenatal or postnatal vitamins are really good for breastfeeding.

I’ve been giving her vitamin D drops for a while now so she’s covered there. I went to buy normal multivitamins today and the label said not to take vitamin A if pregnant or breastfeeding 🤷🏻‍♀️

In Scotland we get given Vitamin D after birth - free drops for baby & free tablets for me 😊

I continue my prenatal vitamin until I am done breastfeeding.

Bern taking Pregnacare breast feeding supplement.

You should be able to find breastfeeding support multivitamins - I think pregnacare has breastfeeding ones

I’ve just continued with my normal pregnacare vitamins. The breastfeeding ones are expensive!

You can purchase specific breastfeeding vitamins which include everything u need. I really like ones from the below brands: Wild Nutrition Pregnacare Seven Seas

@Aggs I also recommend Wild Nutrition! I have used Pregnacare too

There are specific breastfeeding multivitamins but they're very similar to pregnancy multivitamins which you can get much cheaper so I've always just stuck with the pregnancy ones
