Did you take pregvit or another prenatal vitamin before trying for a second child ?

My doctor said over the counter is enough, but he will still prescribe pregvit if I want. Then my pharmacist said there's no point putting a lot of extra vitamins and minerals if I dont need it. This is completely opposite advice from when I tried first 1st baby 2 years ago. Back then, they said I HAVE to take prenatals. I'm now confused about whether prenatal are needed ? Please comment as well with your experiences !

Edit. Haha I just noticed it's necessary and for my health are two different options. Option 1 I mean it's necessary for a healthy pregnancy and fetus. Option 2 is because you were deficient in something so you needed to take it for that

Vitamin D and folic acid are really the only 2 that are very much recommended / needed. With folic acid being the priority in first trimester. I just took those for my first pregnancy as found it much easier than taking those enormous multivitamins

I started taking a prenatal before we were ready to try just to boost my stores and continued until after finishing breastfeeding

As someone who has struggled with miscarrying I decided this time to take concieve plus, along with lots of antioxidants, omega 3s and vit d & high folate. I did some research and swapped to procieve trimester specific vitamins and omega 3s along with high folate and was put on baby asprin and I’ve managed to get to 23 weeks with a healthy boy. I swear it’s cos I took the high quality vitamins this time and not just normal over counter ones. It depends on your reserves and diet. I’m 39 years old though x

Oh and I took a high dose coq10 x

Only thing I ever took when pregnant was iron supplements, never needed anything else. If you’re confident in your diet or you want to take a supplement because you feel you need to it’s not going to hurt.
