What am I doing wrong?!

The level of defeat i feel with my daughter barely eating anything I put in front of her is out of this world. She used to eat everything. The past couple weeks especially have been incredibly rough. She refuses majority of things I give her, barely eats any of the foods she used to, and then all day she's walking around saying, "eat, eat, eat" but then will barely eat anything. Or if she does it's like 2 bites. Sometimes she fakes me out and will take a bite and then just spit it out. I'm running out of ideas on what to give her. I know it's my job as a parent to provide her with opportunities to eat and her job to actually eat... but I can't help but feel like such a failure! 😩

Not a failure, likely molars. She's hungry but not comfortable eating. My son did the same thing. He's finally back to his old self witg his appetite

Just keep offering things she likes, especially soft stuff. It's ok if she'll only go for junk for a week or 2 she will come back around

@Steffani yeah, girlfriend will eat a slice of deep dish like it's nobody's business 😂 It's been so frustrating. But hopefully shortlived like you said :)

My son's kick was bologna sandwiches lol

She may be teething.. When my son was actively teething he refused a lot of normal foods he loved I caught on and started to offer soft foods and shakes. Also swueezable purees I would freeze. So he would still get nutrition but not exactly have to chew. It got him through the tougher days.

It also could be she’s wanting something specific but doesn’t know how to communicate it.

You could make frozen yogurt popsicles, but yeah sounds like teething and they go through phases they just don’t eat!

Could be teething or part of 18 month regression. Also agree with previous comment that she may be wanting something very specific and can’t communicate it. Either way you’re doing great momma:) all you can do is keep offering. If she is hungry she will eat

Something my 18 m/o’s doctor told us this week… they’ve stopped growing everyday, now growth comes in spurts. You may wake up one day and she will eat five pancakes, other days nothing. Just learn to trust her in knowing that her body will tell her what she needs. Made me feel a whole lot better considering she’s currently surviving on milk and air haha
