Some do and some don’t. I would call the doctor and ask if the BC they gave affect milk. Why do you think your supply has dropped?

@Jenn I use to make 4 to 6 oz total a pump now I'm making 2 almost total

Are you just pumping or breastfeeding too?

@Jenn a mix of both mostly pumping since he won't latch always

Using a progestin only bc is recommended because estrogen bc will lower your milk supply and can effect your baby

Okay. Possibly then the BC could have affected your supply I would check with the doctor if it’s one that does or not. I would try power pumping to get your supply up and talk to a lactation consultant

@Jenn how can I find one ?

@Liyah I didn't no that , and she never said anything about it also

Your doctor should be able to refer you to lacation consultant. they can help with latching as well. Possibly your son may have a tongue or lip tie that needs to be fixed to help latch better

@Jenn oh he doesn't he has a great latch when he latches he just doesn't always want to be on boob

They should have asked if you were breast feeding. You can only have progesterone only birth control estrogen kills your supply.

Yes some do and some don’t! My OB had a ton of advice when it came to what wouldn’t hurt my supply. Personally I got the mirena IUD and I know it’s hard for some people but it has been wonderful for me and doesn’t affect my supply at all!

@Canaan I got the depo shot

Yes, I got on depo after having my son, and I barely had milk. I got the shot at the hospital before discharge. They supposed to tell you before they inject you. You may get recommended a lactation specialist. The one I had told me to give my son formula until I got proper milk supply, but I never produced enough.

Some can. I don’t know about the shot though. My dr told me I should just do the mini pill as the others can affect breastfeeding and supply. I just know the pill was the better option or I think IUD. I don’t think he even mentioned the shot. You should ask your dr and that’s concerning they didn’t go over the potentials of it dropping your supply.

Progesterone should have lower impact on supply compared to estrogen. The shot is progesterone. It is normal to have supply regulation around 6 weeks. Definitely see lactation to troubleshoot
