New to formula

I’ve recently stoped BF and moved to formula, but I’m struggling to get my head around bottled, how many oz do you feed in each session and how many bottles? He’s teething at the moment and off his milk anyway 😥

I stopped ebf in December and had this exact same confusion for weeks! I offer 210ml around every 3 hours (7, 10, 1, 4) and 240ml before bed! He also has one bottle during the night! I have found he’s taking less now that he’s having food, so might drop a bottle and feed every 4 hours instead

Which formula have you gone onto? I use aptamil and it has a guide on the size so I’m feeding 7oz 4 times a day and usually 4oz during the night when she wakes up somewhere between 2am & 4am. As she’s on solids too I don’t worry too much if she leaves some at the end of the bottle

I’m using the same but as he’s teaching I wasn’t sure as he’s only having maybe max 5oz at one time

My girl usually has 180ml in the morning then 3x150ml and then 180ml before bed (so every 3 hours during the day, she sleeps through the night) she is teething now too and it’s been a struggle to get 540ml into her yesterday and today 😞 If I were you I would just see how much he takes and go from there. If he is finishing 150ml then go up to 180 but don’t worry if it is lower for a few days as it is normal while they are teething. 4 hours should be the maximum time between really so offering little and often is probably best to start with

Sorry slightly different but how have you managed the switch? I want to do the same but my lg is having none of it!

@Heather sometimes my daughter only wants to take 5oz especially when she was at the worst of teething so I made her 5oz bottles until she was finishing them quickly and searching for more so when it came to next feed I upped it to 6oz and so forth

@Becky he just refused the boob one day, he wasn’t bothered by the taste different either, I have read you can mix breast milk and formula and then gradually decrease amount of breast milk and increase formula

@Liza that’s what I think I’ll do, wasting too much milk at the moment!
