Take pump to hospital?

Hello! Should I take a pump to the hospital if planning on exclusively breastfeeding? How long after birth should I start trying to pump?

I had a CS so I pumped maybe 2 hours after he was born?! definitely take one but equally, they have hospital ones there!

If you have one take one. I wish I had. I wanted to exclusively breast feed but my baby wouldn't latch. She would latch with a nipple shield but would fall asleep. I had to hand express which just wasn't working well and got forced to give formula until 3 days later they finally gave me a pump. My daughter would have had more colostrum if the staff had given me a pump sooner and I will always regret it.

Yes ! I was advised by my midwife not to take one as the hospital will provide but the hospital didn't have enough pumps and there was a waiting list.

Yes and make sure it's a medical grade pump (the hospital will also have one you can borrow if you don't have one). I had a scheduled induction and my OB suggested I take my pump and start pumping while I waited to go into labor. It's a great way to tell your body "ok baby's coming, start producing". Even if you do plan to exclusively breastfeed, pumping can be a great way to build a supply rather than solely relying on baby to tell your body how much you need to produce.
