Early pregnancy scan - change in weeks/due date

Hi all, I went for an early scan this weekend as I was feeling anxious. Based on the date of my last period I would have been 7 +1 weeks, but they said I seemed further behind at roughly 5+6 weeks. Has this happened anyone before ? I've to go back next weekend for a follow up as they couldn't seen much due to it being very early. My hospital scan is booked in for 12 weeks exactly which will mean I'll really only be 11 weeks. Will this be an issue or should I ask them to move the appointment to 12+.  Thanks so much

It’s really common for the dates to be different in the early days. Nothing is set in stone until your first nhs scan when they’ll give you your ‘official’ due date which shouldn’t change after that. The nhs dating scan can be done between 11-14 weeks so no need to change it

Thank you. It's so easy to over think and worry. I hope they can see more on my next early scan next weekend 😊

Yep this happened to me and is so common! Went in thinking I was 6+4, was told I was 5. Then at the 12 week scan I was 1 week ahead at 13 weeks 😂 everything is so inaccurate early on because baby is so so so tiny xx

It's all really just a guess until your 12 week scan when baby is bigger and they can measure a bit more accurately! I had a few private scans and they backdated me but by the time I got to my 12 week scan I was bang on where I thought I would be originally x
