Has anyone had their wisdom teeth removed while EBF?

I’m trying to figure out how much breastmilk I should pump beforehand just in case the pain is horrendous and I need to take the pain killers. Some have told me it’s the worst pain second to child birth and others have said it’s no big deal. I appreciate any experience/thoughts! My appointment to have all 4 removed is on Friday and I’m getting super anxious. TIA!

Thank you! @Jenn that definitely makes me feel better I’m contemplating just going with the laughing gas to help with the anxiety

I would pump as much as you can prior to removal. Better safe than sorry. Some people have a bad recovery time... others not so much. You won't know until you're going though it. Good luck. As far as laughing gas goes, too much can make you nauseated. BUT it can take the edge off. Stock up on jello, broths, and mashed potatoes

When I had my wisdom teeth removed, it wasn’t terrible! I think I was twilighted for the procedure itself (not sure what effect that might have on breastfeeding) but I was able to get through the recovery with just OTC pain meds. Tylenol and Ibuprofen on a rotation, along with lots of icing!

I didn’t but I had them about about three months ago and I did not use pain killers. I think you should be ok

I had mine removed before having kids and it was horrible and I needed all my pain meds and then some. If I were you I’d probably pump enough for a week or two just in case. It never hurts to be prepared

I had to give it up because of the meds that follow 😭 granted he was 2 21/2 and I was wanting to wean him off anyway.

How old is your baby? I had a surgery when mine was 14 months and due to all the anesthesia and drugs, I had to stop breast feeding. Hopefully you can keep going after the drugs are out of your system!

The pain was pretty bad for me but I only ended up taking a couple of the pain killers, I used cold ice packs and stuck them next to my face and wrapped something around my head to keep them there and that helped alot.

I was 9 and 16 weeks pregnant when I had my wisdom teeth removed and the pain is like nothing I've ever felt before. At least labour the contractions come and go but the pain from wisdom teeth removal is CONSTANT. and to be honest no amount of painkillers helped with the pain

@Talia my girl is 11 weeks old, so I’m definitely not wanting to stop breastfeeding all together yet.

@Bella🤍 I also gave birth unmedicated so I’m hoping it’s not too bad compared to that but I know that tooth/mouth pain is another level when it comes to not being able to eat much!

Thank you for the advice everyone! I’ll definitely be pumping all week to make sure I have a stash just in case. Prayers/good vibes always welcome lol
