@Ames it’s so odd! at least I know what to expect now 🤦♀️😂 the scan picture doesn’t even show baby properly either, honestly if I don’t laugh I’ll cry x
🤣🤣ahah literally the 20 week scan photo is so blurry my family actually said they didn’t know what they were looking at 🤦🏼♀️ it’s so bad they’re like this now!! Have you got any private scans booked in? If it’s any help I’ve just had a 29 week scan and she got me a lovely photo of bubba & heard the heartbeat, so maybe it’s whatever sonographer you end up with!! x
@Ames I had an 8 week private scan and could work out baby more in that now this one and I’m 14 weeks 🤣 got another private one booked for around 18 weeks to find out gender and will probably book in some more if it carries on like this at hosp😂 hopefully today was just a one off…. 🤣 x
I just had my first baby at Colchester hospital and the only time I ever heard his heartbeat was in triage when I was hooked up to the monitors. I never heard it during my scans but I found the sonographers would always explain what they were looking at as they went or would give me a debrief as they were finishing up! Maybe it was just the sonographer you had? I also asked a load of questions to so they may have only told me to get me to shut up 😅 I definitely preferred the private scans as they give you more time and you can see/hear everything as you’re paying for the service! X
@Megan congratulations! Hope you are baby are well 🥰 can’t believe that was the only time you heard the heartbeat! I was in Kent with my first and every scan we got heartbeat and umbilical cord sound, and at each midwife appointment she would listen to heartbeat as well. Sonographer today showed me the heart but it wasn’t that clear on the screen, just felt a bit impersonal and rushed. Yeah private scans are lovely, deffo booking in a few as my fiancé and son can come in as well to see it all x
That’s normal, I didn’t hear the heartbeat with either of my babies at scans. My 20week scan was good though, not rushed and went through all measurements etc. I heard heartbeat at all midwife appointments though x
@Holly Thank you and congratulations on your second pregnancy 🥰 I do believe I got to hear the umbilical cord sound but I think that was at the 20 week scan when they check absolutely everything. I hope you have a more positive experience at your next scan 🤞🏻x
My 20 week scan I had at Colchester hospital in December was sooo long and so thorough and my 12 week one was quite good too. There’s 3 rooms so I wonder if it depends what ultrasound tech you get maybe x
@Emily hopefully I just got some bad luck this time 😅 just surprised me as it wasn’t busy at all either. Fingers crossed 20 week scan is better haha x
With my first baby, they took their time and we heard the heartbeat at both 12&20 week scans. This time around, I’ve had the same experience as you with them being rushed and not hearing the heartbeat, I just found everything out by reading the print out they gave x
