Feeding to sleep/Sleep associations

Anyone else found themselves stuck feeding their baby to sleep? I had to start doing this because if I rocked him to sleep or even if he fell asleep himself, the transition to the cot had a success rate of 0% The only way I was able to get him to sleep was to co sleep and feed him to sleep. Now dad can pat him to sleep but if I try that my LO screams until I feed him so now I’ve created a sleeping association. I want to think about getting him to sleep in his cot as he will be 4 months in a couple weeks, but unless I get in his cot I can’t feed him to sleep! Anyone has this problem or any tips solving this?

So, you could look into sleep training at 4 months+. Otherwise the gentlest way I've read about which you could start now is gradually breaking the latch earlier and earlier until he can fall asleep just being held. If he gets upset pop him back on then try again. Then when he can do this switch to settling him in his crib with patting/shushing/singing etc, and gradually withdraw this support. Eventually he should be able to fall asleep in his crib by himself.

@Tanya oh good idea! Thanks for that. I have a feeling I’m too far gone but I will give it a go!

I feed my 3 month old baby then transfer to cot. I did the same with my daughter then transferred her to cot. Now we just cuddle to sleep (she’s 2 and a half now) and then I transfer. There’s nothing wrong with it if you’re ok with it :-) I always found boob the easiest way to resettle them when they wake in the night. My daughter started sleeping through the night ages ago way before I stopped feeding to sleep x
