Worrying :(

Went to see a the HV couple weeks ago they said his communication was behind at his 8-12 month check and said she said she will couple back in 3 months. He still says nothing and has no interest in talking/copying words. He is very vocal with excited screaming, babbling and recently hissing and growling at things/ people. He also has no interest in copying or mimicking actions such as clapping, pointing, waving ect. Any advice?

I wouldn’t worry too much, we had the exact same thing with my middle child. Very low score in communication and had to have a follow-up and even at the follow-up he still wasn’t talking or anything. He only really started using words around 18 months. Now he’s 2 and 1/2 and he doesn’t shut up, it just came out of nowhere. After that the health visitor said she thinks he was learning all the words before beginning to use them x

Agree with the above. Most speech therapist won’t take kids till about 18 months if there are any issues with speech. Just continue to talk, read and sing, and eventually they will catch on. All kids learn at their own time.

@Hannah @Jenn thanks ladies :( like he’s amazing with his motor skills started walking at 9 month but not just no words 🫣😭 I guess he just good at one things and not the other 🫣x

Wait - are they supposed to be talking? Any examples of words? My LO is saying mama but that’s about it. She said dada a few times but hasn’t in a while.

@Susan mine says dads, lala and baba won’t say momma 😭 they really should only be babbling at this point if they say more that’s great but not expected.

@Jenn phew! Thank you!

My daughter hasn’t had her review yet but she’s pretty much the same as you describe. She’s my 4th baby and I know from experience that each are different and they get there in the end xx
