When will they DO SOMETHING for my child?!

I got a call from my sister in law while I was getting my little one ready to head out the door. My son was at recess, and another kid had him pinned against the fence repeatedly punching him in the stomach. My sister in law was freaking out and yelling out the window for this kid to stop. Screaming at the teachers to do something. By the way this all happened with a teacher right there. I called the school, told them what was going on and that a teacher was just watching it happen. I got a call back a couple minutes ago from my son’s teacher that it had already been handled by the time she got outside. That the kid was on the bench for the rest of recess and my son said he was okay. The thing is… I’ve been on video call with my sister in law since. This child has NOT been on the bench and NOBODY talked to my son about it. This child has been a common issue this year, but they flat out told me they will not punish him because he is not a white child. Their exact words. They said I’m discriminating against him by wanting something to be done. I don’t get it. Bullying is wrong no matter what and you’re just gonna…. Let it happen, repeatedly? Then LIE to me about it?? What!!?!?!?!?! I’m so sick of this and idk what I need to do to get them to step up and do something to make this stop. I’ve talked to the principal repeatedly and she won’t do anything. I’ve called and emailed the superintendent MULTIPLE times with no response. And he’s on the school board so sadly idk if that would make a difference either. I’m at my wits end.

Go beyond the school, also if you can get footage, that will help. Documentation and written communication (ie emails) will also help

Can you pull him out of school? Your child isn’t safe there

They also have to think that they are doing this bully a disservice by also not interfering. Your child being hurt is of course my biggest concern and you have absolutely every right to be angry as hell. They have the job of shaping that bully's life, he can't go through life hurting other people because he can also destroy his own life by getting into trouble or picking on the wrong kid. This kid is learning that there are no consequences, and honestly in the racist world we live in, that will only put more of a target on his back. I would contact his parents and if they don't care, file a police report...that will wake them up.

Does your sister in law work at the school?

@Angel no she gets to the drive line like an hour early because she’s had issues with her daughter being bullied as well (same age as my son) and she keeps an eye on her during that time

@Lacey luckily I have access to his parents through Bloomz so I’m trying to figure out how to word a message without coming off as a racist asshole. Because truly I wouldn’t care if this kid is any color, a bully is a bully and it’s so frustrating to deal with this nearly every day.

@Rebecca we wanted to put him in a nearby town.. until we found out it’s actually worse there and there’s been five kids arrested for terroristic threats there in less than a month and it’s ALL grades there so that’s a little scary. I would love to homeschool but we make too much to qualify for assistance with materials and that stuff is way more expensive than I thought :/ we’d have to follow the schools curriculum to a T and they’re a little overboard here.

@Ellie I’ve saved every email, every Bloomz message with his teacher, conferences are this week and I’m gonna ask to have a meeting again with the principal, but that I want the entire conversation either recorded or typed out. I just sent an email to the superintendent again asking for a word with him at either his convenience or the next board meeting. Something has to give. My son has been relentlessly bullied since day 1 of PRESCHOOL and this district just doesn’t care

@Darian keep all documentation and if they continue to ignore or dismiss start legal action against against for negligence and child endangerment

Can a lawyer join your meeting? This is ridiculous

@Rebecca if we can get one pro bono, maybe. Hubby pays so much in child support for the oldest two that we really don’t have much money wise after bills are paid. I’m hoping someone will help.

@Rebecca don’t pull him out of school he can just do it to another kid it needs to stop and end here and now.

You need to record gather every bit of evidence and go to the school board or to the department of education

I know we’re talking about minors, but can we contact the police for some action. Scare the school into doing something. This is so ridiculous. Pinning against a fence and punching is so scary. And did SIL video any of this?

@Layla Caron she’s taken many steps already, it doesn’t sound like it’s stopping and ending here and now

As sad as it is. The reality is that social media would probably get them to bat an eye. If you’re saying this is ongoing & they clearly don’t care, blast them on Facebook. Get footage, blur faces and tell your story.
