They don’t typically test early unless it’s warranted, typical gestational age is 27-29 weeks some early some later all depends on your doctor,
A lot of the time there are no symptoms and they don’t generally test before week 28 unless there are reasons to do so (either you’ve previously had it or you have symptoms) So please don’t worry from that perspective and it’s nothing you could have done. GD is all about the placenta and what it does to the production of insulin. There is nothing you could have done to stop that. But what you can do from now is help your body so that the lack of insulin won’t affect your baby too much and control your blood glucose levels. I found out I had GD since week 28 and currently on week 35 so far with diet control and 16 jnits of insulin at night I’ve kept mine really well jnder control x
I was tested at 20 (higher risk because I have PCOS) and was fine and then again at 34 and that’s when I was diagnosed although it should’ve been earlier but I had issues getting to the appointment, put on metformin a week later 😵💫
@Megan I tested 2x at around 13 weeks and failed the first, and passed the second one! I just took my 28 week tests and failed both times. So confusing when you pass and then fail later 🥲
@Kylee I was supposed to be tested earlier than 20 I think but they forgot to order it and I didn’t know what I was doing so when it was flagged they got me to do it at 20! I went through a phase later on in pregnancy of eating cereal for breakfast and carb heavy lunches and dinner as my sickness came back and I just needed bread 🥲😂 so I’m thinking that’s what’s tipped it too far towards the end :/ I did know I was more likely to get it because I am already insulin resistant!
@Kylee don’t worry that you’re diagnosed later on, my girl is measuring big but she’s otherwise completely healthy, it’s never your fault and we can only do the best we can for the time we have left of the pregnancy 🫶🏽
It’s the normal time most people find out, you should have been given a week or two to diet control and work out what foods work for you and what don’t ?
First time 26 weeks second time 9 weeks. But it’s not necessarily your eating that’s the problem. It could be the placenta. I was always warned of a big baby but my last one was 7lb born at 38+2 and this one is currently only measuring very slightly in front of all last babies measurements
28w4d and ended up on metformin and insulin
