Thrush

This is tmi I’m a nightmare and don’t take myself to the doctors. I’m quite itchy down below and I am adamant it’s thrush. Can I just buy Canescool and use it or do I have to go through the doctors? Sounds selfish of me I’m so busy with work before coming off on mat leave to be dealing with doctors etc I’d rather have something I can just get from the supermarket. 35 weeks pregnant

Canesten thrush cream, you’ll find it in the medicine aisle at Tesco, Sainsbury’s etc

My midwife advised contacting the doctors as a week of antibiotics is required (the guidance for pregnant women has just changed recently) - they really helped me. I didn’t actually have to go in, just a quick phone consultation x

I would contact the doctors because pregnancy thrush is not the same as normal thrush and you may need longer treatment. Many over the counter medications are not suitable for pregnant women

If you're pregnant you should definitely go through the doctors. I had thrush when I was pregnant and I had to have antibiotics alongside the cream
