How to prepare for crawling and weaning

Looking for advice on what we should be buying to prep for crawling and weaning please? Baby is 5 months and looks like she'll be crawling soon, should I get a playpen? Or just baby proof corners? Or both? Anything else..?

Also any advice on what we should get for weaning apart from a chair, spoon, sippy sup, suction bowl please?

I would get a playpen, we have one and still use it at 14 months despite her being able to walk. Always handy because whenever you can’t be watching them, you know they are somewhere safe with things that are safe! It’s also their own little space and helps with independent play. We have one of the larger square ones.
As for weaning, what we’ve done is use sleepsuits and vests that are stained already for her to wear while eating. Then it just all goes in the wash, doesn’t matter what she gets on it and can even cut off the feet of the sleepsuits to lengthen wear if needed. Saves SO much effort in removing marks from anything and covers everything of her unlike a bib . Have heard bibado and coverall are good but can be costly. I just used ones that were marked already and picked up some extras from Vinted that were satisfactory as they’re cheap as chips for them for plenty!

Weaning - stick as much as you can with the basics. Cups, cutlery, plates, high chair, etc. don't bother with special puree making equipment, you'll barely use it.

Crawling - a playpen has been invaluable for us but sometimes babies hate them. Depends on the kid. It's good to have a baby jail I think just so they have a safe space so you can go to the bathroom or whatever.

Honestly I think the best method of baby proofing is, rather than trying to think of everything, watch them and figure out what their "hotspots" are. Aside from the obvious areas of concern like electrical outlets. Instead of trying to lock every cupboard, see which ones they actually gravitate to or are a danger and go from there. If you try to do all of it a lot may be unnecessary.

For weaning, bibs with sleeves. I liked the Close Parent ones.

For crawling, if there's anything particularly dangerous then babyproof it, otherwise wait and see what they get into.

For my first, the only things we baby proofed were cupboards with cleaning products. Taught him to go up and down the stairs safely himself so didn't feel the need for a stair gate. He regularly banged his head on all sorts but ironically never a single corner so I'm not sold on corner protectors personally. We did eventually put child locks on a couple of drawers that LO kept emptying, just because I was fed up tidying it up 10 times per day.

We did have a playpen for our second, different house and a lot more going on so this made life easier. Also ended up putting locks on the fridge and freezer when LO started opening it and leaving it open 🙃 but that was much older, around 2

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵
