Has anyone given their ebf baby formula and managed to continue with ebf journey?

He wouldn’t latch and was so hungry and screaming so a panicked and gave him a bottle of formula. I am so sad and upset that that’s it now his stomach will have expanded to take that amount and he will get a taste for it and not be satisfied at the breast 😥

I combi fed my son from the start and had no issues going back to ebf at times when I wanted to. Although I generally liked the flexibility of offering a bottle every day or two

Have you tried pumping? That’s been working amazingly for me.

He’ll be absolutely fine! I was readmitted to hospital BF all day and night then it got to the early hours and I just didn’t have the energy and gave him some formula. He was fine! The next feed we just went back to BF. You’re doing your best and a fed baby is a happy baby!

It’s gonna be ok! I did this a few times with my first because breastfeeding was incredibly painful (due to tongue tie). I almost exclusively breastfed for a year. The occasional formula bottle is totally fine. I’ve only had my new baby a week but I’ve already given her one formula bottle, expressed 3 times to bottle feed, and am still breastfeeding too.

Yes! Your milk won’t go away for a long time but your boobs will be sore. Get in the shower and give them a good massage. You do what is best for you and baby and sounds like you’re doing amazing xx
