What toys/sensory toys are you using in wake windows?

First time mum and I feel like if I’m not doing something with her all day I’m a bad mum 🫠 trying to let her be a little more independent on the play mat while I’m sat beside her (which to me I feel guilty for 😂) but wanted to see what people are doing to keep their little ones entertained during the day. I’ve got a baby Einstein piano play mat, the baby Einstein aquarium, tummy time pillow, sensory cards and fold ups, teething toys she can chew as she’s just started putting her hands in her mouth constantly and then some oball toys and books. My little one is currently 12 nearly 13 weeks.

My little boys wake windows are so inconsistent still, he's still sleeping a lot during the day so when he is awake I spend the majority of the time talking, being silly and snuggling with him. I have a bunch of the stuff you've listed and we do use them but I'm not putting pressure on it rn.

If you are worried about it, you are doing enough! This is my second and honestly what you are doing sounds amazing. Even just talking, singing, eye contact they learn so much! 🥰

We do all sorts of sensory play.. we have disco lights which he loves, we have the foil (basically an emergency blanket) that's in his ball pit he makes a lot of racket haha. He has different toys that make noise. Xx

Sounds like you are doing lots, have you tried any classes to help break up the day? The only other things we do is some rolling practice and then assisted sitting while i play with him/do nursery rhymes etc and we also have a light projector for him to watch which he seems to like. i also pop him in his bouncer while i cook or do something in the kitchen and i show him all the ingredients/talk to him etc which he seems to find funny🥰

@Louisa silly question but how do u practice rolling??

@Kirstie have a look on tiktok. Place baby on their front, one arm sticking up and the other underwear their chest and roll them slowly over with lots of praise. Eventually they will pick it up

@Kirstie we saw videos of techniques, but we help him roll from front to back and he has now done it a few times on his own when we help set him properly. Then when he’s on his back we rock his legs, practice moving one arm over, hold him on his side etc. I’d agree with Rebecca to have a look on tiktok!

Thanks all! I think I’m just putting too much pressure on myself to be doing something constantly! Will keep it up though as her wake windows are now about 2 hours long 😂
