Low Papp-a and small baby induction?

I was wondering if anyone knows what’s usually suggested in my case. I have a call with my doctor at 36 weeks but was wondering what others experience was. I have low Papp-a and a baby measuring around 10th percentile at last scan with a particularly small head at around 3rd percentile. When it was just low Papp a they mentioned potential induction at 39 weeks but given the baby is also small do you think they would recommend the same/earlier? I have another scan on Monday (32 weeks 4 days). Last pregnancy was ok until where I had high blood pressure, post birth hemmorage and retained placenta. Last measurement was fundal height about 2 weeks ago which was about 2 weeks behind “normal” but I know that’s a bit rubbish for measurements.

Are you in the UK? I was started with plan for low Papp A the same as you, induction between 39-40 weeks and not to go over due date A few weeks ago, when baby was around the 10th percentile and femur on the 4th percentile, my original plan stayed in place for induction at 39 weeks I’m 32 weeks 4 days today, baby is around the 4th percentile and my current plan is induction at 38 weeks, growth scans every other week and Doppler scans every week, consultant appointments every 2 weeks via telephone - if baby drops off further dramatically then to re evaluate coming sooner I would imagine that your plan based on my experience will stay the same unless the total percentile for baby goes below 10th percentile and then may re evaluate and change to 38 weeks but obviously you have a different consultant, you’re different, different baby etc!

Hi @Amy-May thanks for sharing. I’m UK based. So assuming if at the next scan baby has dropped below 10th they may suggest induction earlier but if the baby is still at its own rate likely stick to around due date induction. So far just a 32 and 36 week scan then blood pressure every week after 36.

Yeah I imagine if baby drops below 10th you’ll be offered an induction around 38 weeks but if baby stays on the same trend/ same percentile your plan should stay the same as it shows baby is still growing just staying small! I hope that gives you a bit of reassurance, I got super stressed when I was unsure what the plan was going to be as I like to know what’s going on and what to expect as I like to gather as much information as possible

Yes thank you makes planning when to go off work and childcare really difficult! But hopefully after the scan it will be a bit clearer
