Any advice for recovery from an endometrial tissue removal surgery?

I am getting 4 incisions in my abdomen to uncover and remove endometrial tissue in a few months. They just called to give me a heads up it will be soon so now I’m freaking out. My son just turned 2, so he will be about 2.5 when the surgery happens. He’s VERY clingy and attached to me. We co sleep still (gonna have to work on this ASAP because it won’t be an option). Any advice or experiences anyone can share would be helpful. I want to hear the good the bad the ugly. I hate feeling caught off guard. Thanks!

My sister has had this surgery a few times. Just rest up as much as you can afterward, really x

I got a pillow for the seatbelt on the ride home https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BLXPBBDM?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title And alternate heat and ice

You will be on a weight restriction for a while afterwards and expect to be on it longer than the doctors say. I have slow healing because of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome so I knew it would be a bit slower than normal but they said a weight restriction for a month but I didn’t feel comfortable lifting more than 5-10 pounds for about 3 months. I felt such a strain and pain that I didn’t want to risk it. The actual healing is definitely rough the first few days, very bloated, hard to move, gas moving around your body but after about a week you move past the “active recovery” stage into the more “passive recovery” stage where you have the weight restriction, getting moving around again. It’s not a bad recovery for a surgery but it’s for sure a surgery. Lots of soreness, alternating heat and ice (I much preferred heat) and an easy to digest diet for a while to ease discomfort. If you have anyone to help out with kiddo I would highly recommend it for the first week so you can heal up properly 🫶🏻

@Lee omg the weight restriction … my son is like 45lbs …. That’s going to be so hard 😭😭😭 I will have help luckily

Are they going through your belly button?

@Brittany no 4 incisions further out on the abdomen

@Elizabeth ahhh ok. I’ve had multiple procedures on my ovaries and uterus. But my incisions are on my lower abdomen and through the belly button. Will you have support from your husband ? My best advice is just to lean on him as much as possible! Good luck, you’ll be ok 🙏 !

@Brittany my husband and my parents 🩷 even his parents for when I’m doing a bit better but still need a hand.

I had a laparoscopy a year ago with 3 incisions to remove a cyst, my ovary and fallopian tube. Drink peppermint tea afterwards cause they pump you up with gas and it’s really painful. Take it easy and get lots of rest sitting and lying down, you should feel way better after avout a week x

@Elizabeth aw good, I’m glad you have so much support!

Oh I also meant to ask what pain killers if any were prescribed for after for you guys who have been through it
