I sent a message to someone saying I’m going to the park if you want to come?

And they have had a massive go at me saying it’s rude to say to someone if you want to come? Is it rude?

I’m curious … what was she expecting you to say ?

That’s strange 😂. You were being polite.

I wouldn’t say it’s rude- you’re saying you’re going to the park and if they’re free they’re welcome to join you?

They’ve sent me this x

But I put I’m Going park if you wanna come x

LMFAO what the fuck. They don’t enjoy their free will being respected? Huh? I’ve never interpreted “if you want to come” as “you shouldn’t come” I’ve always thought of it as “do you want to come?” LMFAO

How is it rude? You basically invited them to the park. Do they want a written invitation, delivered by courier? Or are you supposed to beg for their company? What a strange thing to have a go about.

They sound insecure but that's not your fault. You're letting them know that you'd be somewhere and they're welcome to join. Nothing rude about it! It's a casual catch up in the park, not an invitation to a royal ball 😆

That sounds a little mad 😂 What a strange thing to get offended at!

Soooo… did they want to come or no? 😂

As if they sent you that! 🤣🤣 what you said is totally fine. ‘I’m going to the park and I’d be absolutely thrilled if you could join me’ would be a bit overboard imho

But you wouldn’t have text them in the first place if you didn’t want them there? They sound like they are having a bad day. Leave them be.

No its not rude I would put exactly same thing as what you said

I invite my friends like that all the time. In all these years I’ve never had someone crack it at me the way she did to you, that’s ridiculous. We’re basically saying “I’m going to be here, if you aren’t busy and can make it, totally join me”.

If you were casually looking for a playdate then no. Not rude. I'm honestly struggling to see how you were rude.

hold up let me just roll out the red carpet, for my fucking carrier pigeon to deliver my handwritten (in cursive) invitation with a wax seal on it, to ask you “please kind sir, do me the honours of accompanying me to the park, id be ever so happy and worship the ground you walk on for all my days to come” get to fuck, your friend sounds like a wet wipe 🤣

Yeah if it's a casual thing I'll say something like we're going to the library if you're free or whatever. I guess technically I am indifferent 🤷‍♀️. Because I'm going to go either way but it would be nice if you came. What a weird thing to nitpick

they sent you that screenshot to explain how they thought you were being rude???? im dead

Sounds like you dodged a bullet 😂 That woman sounds nuttier than squirrel 💩

Was this a friend? I reread and it's vague. I hope this wasn't your partner/ baby dad 😅😅

I prefer “if you want to come” over come if you want . But tbh with my friends it’s a given like no invite needed. Thinking to take the kids to the park, the normal response between us would be cool, what time see you there. Every one’s different tho

My response back to that would have been ok then dont..

When I write something like that I am indifferent, kinda. Like yes I would like you to join but I'm going to the park anyway. But after a message like that I would be far less interested in having them join me.

What you said is not rude. “If you want to come” (what you said) and “come if you want” (what they sent) are two completely different things lol. The first is offering them to join you, the second has a standoff-ish tone. Your friend just wanted to be offended. 🤷🏻‍♀️
