Christening without Godparents

I want to get my baby Christened. It’s important to me and my husband is very understanding of this, even though he doesn’t have a faith. However, we don’t have family and tbh I don’t have any friends I’d want to ask to be Godparents - they never asked how I got on or took an interest during my pregnancy… they’ve never checked in to ask how me & baby are doing (now 6 months old). Has anyone been to a Christening where there have been no Godparents? Can that happen? None of my friends are religious either. I don’t think any of them even believe in God… I was thinking of asking for a private service but I want to celebrate it too as it’s important and special. I just feel so deflated and upset for my baby. Anyone else been in this position?

I am getting my baby baptised next month into the Catholic faith and I needed at one God parent who was in the Catholic faith

Hey, not for a baby. But when I was getting baptised to get married in a catholic church the priest found me a godparent. That was after months and months of discussions into being a catholic etc, so he would know more about me and find someone who suited me 🙂

You have to have god parents. If you don’t have any then 2 people on the community from the church with be appointed x

The priest can help support you with this. Xxxx

Thank you everyone xx
