Is it normal?

My LB is 2 this month and he’s having some tantrums where he will just cry and demand what he wants. He has also started to headbutt (not hard) and throw his toys. I find it very hard to watch and feel like I’m doing something wrong. I’ve also just had another baby which I’m not sure is linked as it was the same before she was born. Is anyone else going through this and it so, how do I deal with it in the best way

Yes very normal, ‘terrible twos’ but both mine started before two. Could also be to do with the new baby and could be jealous but it’s normal x

Yeah really normal! Toddlers don’t have any impulse countrol/ability to regulate emotions etc etc. A friend of mine said whenever her little one is having a tantrum she reminds herself that it was only 2 years ago that she was just lying there like a potato 😅 I thought it was a great analogy which might help put into perspective how much they’ve learnt in such a short amount of time, and that we often expect too much from them.

Thank you both! That reassures me so much 😊 Feeling real mum guilt at the moment x

So normal, but also so hard. Best thing I found is to stay consistent, and let them get it out. Stay nearby, offer a hug when they’re starting to come out the other side. I’ve found if she kicks off and I then give her whatever it is she is asking for it is 1000x worse. The head butting is normal too, just a phase, not nice though I know.
