Not clapping or waving

My 15 month old doesn’t clap or wave. I’ve seen him clap so I know he can do it but he hardly ever does it and definitely won’t do it if we ask him to or show him. I’ve mentioned this twice to the health visitor but she doesn’t seem concerned. He also isn’t talking. Is Anyone in the same boat? I’m so stressed 😩

Mine is 15 months and doesn’t wave. He does clap though, but if I ask him its a 50:50 if he will ignore me of not ahahha. He does blow kisses bye instead of waving though, I guess I never really taught him to wave so it makes sense he doesn’t do it. Mine only says a few words, but babbles a lot, I think the HV are more concerned when kids don’t babble. Just to put your mind at ease about talking and I know some people will say this is anecdotal but it is good enough evidence for me, but my best friend works with kids in a nursery, she has done for years and has her own kids. She said she has noticed boys are in general later to the whole talking shin dig. Of course there are exceptions to the rule, but even again anecdotally from my mum friends alone, I have noticed the girls do seem to chit chat more also. I’m not sure if that is much help or not, but I hope it eases your worries a little.

My 15 month old used to clap every now and again. And has only just started clapping . Now he is clapping at every opportunity he gets 🤣 just keep encouraging . One thing about this kids is they all have their own times for doing things and honestly that has put my mind at ease.

@Bex he does high five but same as you we didn’t really practice waving so maybe that’s why. I am forever clapping though not that he does it back. I’ve heard boys can be slower at talking. I’ve also read babies going to speech therapy at 15 months but my hv didn’t seem concerned so I’m not sure weather to just wait and see or keep pushing for some help 😩

@June did you do anything to help him clap? I’m always clapping but he pays no attention 😅

Honestly it brought tears to my eyes, he just started on his own, he now even claps when I tell him to clap.. he isn’t pointing yet and just started waving yesterday at 16 months, just continue encouraging him, I always put miss Rachel videos showing gestures and I participate as well. This children I think just have their own time 🥰❤️😍
