Baby won’t eat normal porridge oats.

Baby has been on Hipp creamy porridge for about 5 months. I want her to eat normal porridge oats however she refuses to eat them completely. I’ve tried mixing some of the Hipp porridge with the oats so I can then try and wean her off the Hipp porridge using less each time and she still won’t eat them. Also blended them. Any suggestions? Porridge is basically her favourite meal and obviously breakfast is very important so I don’t know what to do. She can’t be on baby porridge forever and plus it’s expensive!

how about ready brek ? it’s smoother or u could try blitzing the porridge oats before making them x

We went from heinz banana porridge, to Heinz banana and oat porridge and then to banana weetabix (warmed up) he absolutely loves it! X

We used to blend porridge oats to make them finer in the beginning. I'm assuming it's the texture she isn't keen on

Try readybrek - I did baby porridge for around a month and then switched to readybrek .. both my kids 2 & 11 months love it! I mix in some fruit pouch sometimes to make it a little different but might be worth a try?

@Chelsey tried this aswell

@Firdaws tried blending them

@Storme she won’t eat wetabix and I want her to eat porridge as I know she likes it

I would suggest is to take a break from porridge for a few days, do toast or something else and then go back to porridge, the one you want her to eat xx Because she’s having it so regularly, she knows the texture and taste, hence why she isn’t accepting the new one because it’s not the same. You could however try adding a fruit and seeing if that helps, might be the new one isn’t sweet enough xx

@Storme not a option as she won’t eat anything other than porridge and I can’t not give her breakfast and she hates fruit

Honestly just go with it. My son was like this with Ella’s kitchen porridge until he was about 3, then he went off porridge for a while, and now it’s the normal stuff perfectly happily! He also wouldn’t eat anything but that bloody Ella’s kitchen porridge when he was a baby so I decided it was a sacrifice I had to make to ensure he did actually eat breakfast.

Have you tried different oats? Different supermarkets oats can be different textures so could be worth trying some different ones. Also you can try cooking them super slow in a slow cooker (you need more liquid than normal) but it makes it creamier and smoother. We tended to put more water in when using the slow cooker - it was on a timer to come on so was ready when needed. Slow cooking it even on the hob at a low heat also makes it smoother and creamier so could just be worth having a play with how you cook them too
