Normal eye contact?

My baby was born at 35 weeks at the end of November so is now 11 weeks and whilst we have had some smiles from him, they are not all the time and I’ve noticed over the past week that he doesn’t really do eye contact and instead looks just above my head. He does sometimes make eye contact when he’s taking his bottle though. Is this normal and does anyone have any advice?

So brain development starts in the womb so brain development is often taken on due date rather than birth date but I can't say I was getting consistent eye contact at 11 weeks. I get more eye contact now and she's 16 weeks tomorrow. I downloaded the wonder weeks app and it guides me on what to expect but also not to put too much pressure on things because baby might develop the ability but not the want to show it necessarily on schedule!

@Bethan thank you! I’ve just downloaded it too - it’s so hard to know all these things isn’t it!

My baby is 12 weeks tomorrow m we've had fleeting moments of eye contact sometimes for a few minutes but not really very often. She usually looks around or above me. Not many smiles not even one a day tbh since she started at 8.5 weeks . Inwas also beginning to wonder if this is normal!

@Bethan did you have to pay for WW? I downloaded it but everything was behind a paywall. My friend recommended it to me and she thought it was free.
