We brought our 5 month away in January and it was absolutely fine ☺️ she just had her normal routine but we were in the sun and by the pool! So worth it, go for it! ☺️
We took our 3month baby to latinamerica, 10hrs flight, layover in America and then 3:30hrs and it was all perfect! Go on your holiday! We are so glad we did!
We just got back from Gran Canaria and he’s 5 months…. I agree with Hannah It was an 8am flight so we had to travel through the night which I was dreading but he fell asleep in the car on the way to the airport and then in the airport he just stayed awake the whole time very happy just looking around being very nosy and then he had a feed and fell straight to sleep as we were boarding plane, but then woke up when we got on the plane. He was absolutely fine. We took baby ear defenders and fed him a bit more on takeoff and then he fell back to sleep. Honestly it was a dream, same coming back too even tho it was an afternoon flight and he was wide awake he was amazing. He was also so good on holiday too I was dreading nap times but it was so smooth. He stayed awake for much longer than usual because he was so aware but he was really good 😊
From experience with my older children it is far easier to go on holiday with a baby than it is a toddler/young children. Babies tend to be easier to feed on holiday can sleep in pram etc. toddlers/young kids can be a little more challenging, so I would say enjoy while you can.
We took our first to Cyprus when he was 7 months and it was fantastic. We went to Austin with him when he was 14 months and it was wayyyy harder! Highly recommend going before they’re super mobile. We’re going to Crete in April so with a just turned 2 y/o and the baby. Can’t wait!
We took our 2.5 month old to spain to visit friends and he was a DREAM! I wore him around the airport & on & off the plane. I then fed him for take off & landing & used a baby ear defender on his exposed ear to help with the pressure - he slept the whole journey back! We’re taking him again next month :) enjoy it!
I just came back from flying solo with my 5.5 month old baby to New York. As long as you plan and pack accordingly you should be ok and travelling with your husband to have an extra pair of hands through security you’ll be fine. Once I was out the other side and had my buggy and carrier etc set up it was just like being at home.
We have just been to Gran Canaria with our was then 5 month old and I was so nervous about it too but he was a dream, just be very prepared incase of delays and pack plenty toys/gadgets for the duration of the trip 😀
Went to canary islands start of Jan when he was just over 5mnths - I'd honestly recommend it to anyone! Perfect age. Holiday was lovely- especially seeing him splash about and so relaxed in warm weather. It was when we had all that snow - so we had a 10hr delay (13hrs in the airport) - that was hard but was OK - ended up paying for the lounge for more comfort lol. Can't really plan for situations like that. But worth it for the holiday we had. Plane slept majority of the way, and we took turns when he was awake - luckily had spare seats on the flight so he slept on the middle seat between us which was a bonus.
Thanks everyone- we’ve booked the holiday!!
We took out 5 and a half month to Spain in January and it went very well actually. My advice would be to feed baby in plane and make baby sleep. During take off and landing give them a dummy if possible or get them something to protect their ears as they do get upset with the change of altitude
