Walking outside

My son is a confident walker at home, but when he is outside he gets really upset and wants to be picked up, he also gets upset in the pram too, not ideal for a family walk lol. He’s also not very steady on his feet outside and ended up face planting the ground today 😭 is there anything I can do to encourage outside walking more? We’ve had shoes properly fitted and he wears them indoors sometimes.

I have the same issue so following. My arm is about to drop off as LO is heavier now! I’ve bought a ring sling from FB marketplace and hired a toddler carrier from my local sling library. I also think my LO needs shoes with a flexible sole. So going to look into these.

In my experience it’s just lots of practice outside. Pavements and grass etc are uneven unlike inside. Also there’s a lot more stuff going on, more people, more noises. Plus when they fall outside on concrete it’s a lot harder so hurts more 😞. Try getting them used to doing it in your garden or walking up and down your street. They will soon get the hang of it and you will be wishing they would slow down xx

My son was the same for a while and I kept letting him open the door and take himself outside he’d usually get to the end of the path like 1m from the door get upset and want to be picked up and then since Friday he’s just decided he likes walking he walked out of nursery all the way home and hasn’t looked back since x
