Did anyone decide not to go to any scans or check ups/appointments during pregnancy?

What did your hospital/midwife say? Did it affect how they treated you during delivery?

I could be wrong but it's considered unsafe not to go to any hospitals appointments especially if you know your pregnant, I honestly wouldn't risk it 🙃 Also when in labour they would even ask about hospitals notes etc and you'll have nothing ? Which could cause trouble in the long run godforbid anything was to go wrong. Also you may want to apply for grants etc or even a Matb1 ( which is obtained via a midwife) and they may ask for medical evidence that you are pregnant, it could even be a scan report etc however if you don't have anything to present you may not be eligible etc. Obviously at the end of the day decision is yours but I'd bare these things in mind 😉

They can actually report you to social services if you miss quite a few appointments. I had missed 3 in my second pregnancy (was juggling my 2 year old and not having childcare as dad was working and you weren’t allowed to bring children to appointments)

Okay, my reason is because my job has me stationed in another country for several months, which just so happen to fall right before I’m due my first scan all the way until when I’m week 30 lol! They can make changes to my role but not to the location, however im able to get scans etc done abroad so I’m wondering if that will impact anything once in back and ready to give birth 🙈

@Adele why would they report someone if it’s not compulsory? That’s a bit odd. It’s like being told off for something that isn’t bad. I can understand if they just kept insisting because if safety, but I think the only time they might get social services involved is if we suddenly stopped responding to all their letters and calls and they got worried about us. If we’re keeping them up to date and say I can’t get it don’t want to do any scans, I don’t think they can force anyone. It’s similar to vaccines.

Hmmm it's a tricky one , I would discuss this issue with your midwife? As you'll also need to obtain fit to fly note As at certain stages it's not always safe to travel while pregnant, honestly I have no answers lol

I’m not too sure either, I always let them know when I wasn’t able to make it. Im married and never been known to social services so it wasn’t like there was any red flags. Maybe I just got an off midwife🫣

With my first I refused the NHS scans and went private after an awful experience at kings college - they were a bit off about it. X

If you still have the scans just somewhere else I'm sure they can use common sense and not report you. It's not like you weren't taking care of the pregnancy. When you return they may want to do the scans again (even though gestation will be later)
