Face smacking - frustration

Hey! I just wanted to post here to see if anyone else has experienced this. Our little boy has a habit of hitting/smacking his head when he gets frustrated or cross about something. I was having a read online about it, and it does appear as though this is just a way for them to express themselves when they can’t voice how they are feeling. Despite reading this it still concerns me a bit as he does it quite a lot. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

I have just written my own post about this. My LO bangs his head again the wall/floor when he’s upset. I took him to a toddler group last week and he did it and one of the mums was like, ‘oh is he a headbanger, I’ve neve seen one before’.. mortified 🙃

@Laura lol! That was a really helpful comment for her to make! Have you come across anyone else’s little one doing it?

I know right.. not really but I just thought it was common in infants at this age but after lasts weeks comment I’m starting to wander.. xx

My little boy had a phase of doing this for a good couple of weeks but now he pretends to instead of doing it, think he realised it hurt 🙈 xx

Mine throws his head back during a tantrum so I have to be extra careful I can’t just let him be and let him cry or take a break even for a min. 😓 In the beginning he hit his head on whatever was behind him!!! Now I’m soo careful but he’s done it for months!!! Worst combination right now: horrible tantrums + throwing head back

My little boy has started doing this, not always when frustrated sometimes just when he’s over excited he’s slaps his face! Xx
