Is it safe/ok to travel to the US for a holiday right now?? Guys help me out.. I don’t do politics so have no idea what everyone is talking about (see below)

I hope so as we are going to Orlando in August. That said having been to Miami it definitely had an undercurrent and I personally did not feel safe there.
i don’t see why it wouldn’t be safe, yes trump is a huge dickhead but nothing he’s doing should affect your vacation plans. i’ve never been to Miami personally. also i know people from outside the US get nervous about our gun laws/shootings so if that makes you uncomfortable be aware
Like with any country, it depends on where you go - there are good & bad areas. As for Miami, I don’t live there but I know there’s a history of local government enacting curfews, especially during the time around l spring break. I don’t believe President Trump has anything to do with it.
Trump is an ass, if you ask me, but he's not created an unsafe country to visit. You should be fine to travel to Miami. Just use the same safety and awareness around you and your family when traveling anywhere in the world. I live in Central Florida and would not consider the state unsafe at all.

I mean like people said it depends where you go… just be mindful that you are going to one of the most problematic states imo… cuz their governor is a nightmare… at least me as a non-binary lesbian i would not go to Florida if you paid me but that’s me… you just have to be mindful of racial profiling from cops. So stay away from sundown towns. Those are all across America… I mean overall I’m sure you would be safe as long as you stay in the right areas Miami being a big metropolis im sure it’s fine but it’s those smaller towns you gotta be keep an eye out but it’s also good to be mindful of what you are walking into regardless because you are POC.
@Kelli in my opinion I would disagree… he has made it unsafe to travel because it has made the racist, xenophobic, homophobic, and transphobic people to be emboldened. They are coming out of the woodwork. The way Nazis tried to hold a protest in Ohio the other day and a bunch of community members had to come out with the police and they ran away in a U-Haul… and the fact that Trump’s team removed the T from LGBT on the state department’s travel safety page… is a huge glaring flag it’s not safe for trans folks to travel rn… we have to be extra diligent… so I mean… I don’t feel safe here.., the only tourists that are safe mostly is white travelers.., cuz again xenophobia and racism is an issue rn as well when we have Native Americans being detained by ICE. Not to mention the innocent people being shipped off to Guantánamo Bay. So Trump definitely has made it less safe for traveling. And we should all keep our head on a swivel to be safe.
It’s safe. We visit every 2 months or so for work, family and pleasure and it’s fine. Miami will be lovely, are you going down to Key West? 🐬
I would recommend so many other beaches rather than Miami to go to with your family. Miami is fun, not the safest….but there are plenty of beautiful beaches in Florida that are family friendly!

Hollywood beach is my favorite beach personally 👀 it’s unlikely that something bad will happen but just be aware we do ofc have a gun violence problem
I've decided not to give my money in this country until they have a government that respects human beings. But that's just me. Don't think it's unsafe tho.

It’s just definitely more of a party scene!! And a little unsafe. One of the trafficking capitals of the US I believe
